I came across someone's outrage at how the Avatar series ended and they decided to try their hand at writing a different ending. It's pretty shit. Let me give you the gist so you don't have to wade through the butchering of the English language.

Apparently, the author completely disregards random episodes from Book 3 (important ones) so who knows when her alternate ending begins. Azula sends Mai and Ty Lee after the BoomerAang Gang (plus Zuko), but they are defeated and Azula puts them in torture cells after beating them within inches of their lives for being failures. Meanwhile, the GAang gathers allies from all over the world to plan an attack on the Fire Nation during Azula's coronation as Firelord (WTF happened to Sozin's Comet???). GAang and Frenz seize the Royal Palace and then split: Aang goes after Ozai; Katara, Zuko, and Toph go after Azula; Sokka, Momo, and Hawkie (awesome backup!) go to break Iroh out of jail (again?! I told you this was fucked).

Toph gets put out of commission by Azula, Azula shoots lightning at Katara but Zuko successfully deflects it this time and gets thrown against a column, then Sokka comes in at the last minute to help Zuko bring Azula down. Iroh's helping Aang fight the Firelord because, y'know, it's not completely out-of-character at all, then Aang says "Fuck everything I've learned from the airbenders about all life being sacred and my own personal feelings about murder being immoral" and murders Ozai. Who disintegrates. Yes, this is the best Avatar ending ever.

Zuko becomes Firelord and finds out from Azula that his mom is the Painted Lady (roftlmao). The End.

Did I mention that the author is a Zutara-shipper? I prefer Zutara over Kataang, too, but even I couldn't complain about how their relationship worked out. It was established in the FIRST episode that Aang loved Katara and she was obviously developing feelings for him, too, as the story went on. It would be totally incoherent for 2 seasons of bitter rivalry to dissolve completely between Zutara and have them fall in wuv in the last one. I'd love that, but it wouldn't make sense. =P The author thinks Aang's being the Avatar means he can't have a love interest, totally disregarding the fact that, DUH, Avatar Roku was married and had children. Plus, there was so much obvious Zutara fanservice in the series that was satisfying enough for me: Book 2 in the cave, Katara threatening Zuko in Western Air Temple, their journey of self-discovery in Southern Raiders together, etc.

Another reason I can't complain about the Kataang ending: Mai! I love Mai and she would be heartbroken at losing Zuko. =( Aang would be heartbroken, too, and that would suck because he also deserves a happy ending. I didn't have any illusions about how the series would end since it was pretty obvious where it was leading. Afterall, there's always fanfiction! MUAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!
